Education Technology Strategic Planning, Research & Evaluation
...
During my career I spent 20 years with Intel Corporation, with the last 10 years managing the education technology program evaluation efforts for the company's global education initiatives. My responsibilities included research and evaluation into how effective integration of technology into multiple levels of education can impact teaching, learning, education reform, and economic growth. I have authored a number of articles, co-edited two books, and presented around the world on these topics.
Designed to support a commitment to high quality education that promotes 21st century skills, teacher training and effective technology integration in classrooms globally, my responsibilities included managing a series of rigorous program evaluations in order to ensure continuous, targeted improvement of all of Intel’s educational products and activities. These evaluations took place as a result of research grants from the Intel Foundation and Intel Corporation for multiple Intel Education initiatives, such as Intel Teach, Intel Learn, Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and the Intel Higher Education Technology Entrepreneurship initiatives.
The research compiled for these purposes has not only enabled Intel to improve and refine program development efforts, but now also comprises a rich body of evidence that leaders implementing Intel® Education Initiative programs used to demonstrate program impact, gain program support and support student centered education reform. The independent program evaluation findings contain descriptions of successes and honest appraisals of areas needing improvement. For that reason, the results have value for educational leaders looking for best practices and solutions to the problems they face when implementing any educational technology program.
